The Charleston Association of Realtors recently posted their market reports for the Low Country. Linked below are the reports for the performance of the real estate markets of Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Island.
Dunes Properties this past weekend sponsored the inaugural 5K Turtle Trek on Isle of Palms to help benefit the turtle hospital at the Charleston Aquarium. Even though located about 20-25 miles northeast as the turtle swims, Isle of Palms is still just as important a nesting beach to the turtles as the beaches we call our own here on Kiawah and Seabrook.
This event resonated with us at dunes properties given our involvement in selling real estate along the Charleston Coast, the same real estate the turtles call home. The Kiawah Seabrook group was well represented at the event with Karen Hilty and Joy Millar participating. They were also joined by Kristin Walker, one of our downtown sales associates, and Traci Magnus, our head of marketing.
This event is something Karen found very important as she actively participates in the Turtle Patrol here on our beaches on Kiawah and Seabrook. Karen had this to say after the event, “The race was a sell out, and our performance…well, let’s just say it was in keeping with the named beneficiary!!!!”
Travel + Leisure recently released their World’s Best Cities ranking and their list of Best Islands of the Continental United States. We are lucky enough to call one of the best U.S. islands home to our team and have the best city in the WORLD be only 21 miles away. Stop by our office to meet with our team to take the first steps in calling here home!

Two beautiful new properties have recently come on the market with Dunes Properties on Kiawah Island.
200 Chinaberry Lane is an incredible property located in Kiawah’s exclusive community The Preserve in the Vanderhorst Plantation. This large wooded homesite is 1.43 acres with over an acre of buildable high ground. This unique pentagon shaped corner lot is the perfect footprint to accommodate the home of your dreams with stunning marsh views overlooking tidal creeks and Eagle Point. The homesite has access to all the amenities located in The Preserve including the Bass Creek boat and crabbing docks and the Eagle Point boat launch.
Listing agent Russell Buhrer can be reached at (443) 995-4620 or email@example.com.
104 Marsh Elder Court a 3 bed, 3.5 bath home located behind Kiawah’s Vanderhorst Plantation Gate. There are marsh views and then there are BIG marsh views, which this home’s position clearly epitomizes. Breathtaking, unobstructed views from the master bedroom, formal living room, country kitchen and large exterior deck. If you are a nature lover, you couldn’t be more in concert than being located in this one story home on high ground that makes you feel you are a part of nature, not an observer fifteen feet or more above. The exterior of the house is shell tabby which is designed to last a lifetime and is virtually maintenance free. As of December 2015, a new roof was installed that has a lifetime warranty that is transferrable to the new Owner. Vaulted and beamed ceilings make this @3000 square foot home live even larger. Each bedroom has its own bath and the rooms are nicely spaced for privacy. A home like this could not be duplicated today for any amount of money due to new set back rules and building requirements. It truly is one of a kind that has withstood the test of time, without incidence, from Hurricane Hugo and the 1000 year rains.
Listing agent Karen Hilty can be reached at (843) 696-1325 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
