Kiawah’s Sanctuary Hotel marks its 10th Anniversary

CONGRATULATIONS from the Kiawah Seabrook Group on 10 years of providing
luxury lodging on Kiawah Island. We’re delighted to have such a beautiful
facility – unrivaled in the state of South Carolina, right here in our own
backyard. Designed to look like an old Southern mansion and spanning 25
acres, The Sanctuary is the most expensive hotel ever built-in South
Carolina. With the highly coveted distinction of both a Forbes Five-Star and
AAA Five-Diamond rating the hotel lives up to its ultra-luxury reputation.
According to Sanctuary GM Bill Lacey, as noted in the Post & Courier, the
hotel is still basking in “the PGA afterglow” with hotel revenue at an
all-time record last year. We eagerly anticipate the resort’s next plan to
expand their accommodation offering on the island.

This is a new dining venue, just off the cnr of 17 and Main Rd – in the building once known as Mia’s. Chef Jay Kees and his wife Nicole opened the restaurant about 3 months ago and if the parking lot is any indication, they have already been discovered. The space is cozy, clean and bright with fresh flowers on every table. Blue Plate Specials Tues – Fri are $9 each. The pork tacos I recommend and the BLT’s look terrific. Fresh local produce from Legare Farms, Cherry Point Seafood,Saffron Bakery and Mepkin Abby to name just a few.

Check the website or call 843.556.7525 for more information.

3669 Savannah Hwy. From Charleston, cross the Main Rd intersection, then, soon, just past the new AutoZone, take the first opportunity to cross to the left and into the parking lot.   Enjoy…..

Only 200 days to go!

Charleston No 1 – AGAIN!

Not only is it Conde Nast Traveler’s No. 1 tourist destination in North America, it has now garnered a spot in Fodor’s Top 21 places to go in the world this year. Oahu, Hawaii is the only other U.S. tourist spot to make the list.

A “buzzy destination” is how Foder’s described Charleston; a city that is leading a Southern food revival, celebrates Husk and McCrady’s restaurants, beautiful scenery, many festival, an active arts scene and plush hotels.

The area has a rich, urban feel, is steeped in history, high on hospitality, great weather and beautiful beaches. It’s quite the package for visitors and a tremendous place to live and work.
